CHANDIGARH, April 15, 2024 – The Congress party has officially announced its decision to nominate Manish Tewari, a seasoned politician and two-time Member of Parliament from Punjab, as its candidate for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming 2024 general elections. He will be fighting against BJP Candidate Sanjay Tandon.

The decision came after a crucial meeting of the Congress central election committee in Delhi, where Tewari’s candidature was finalized among 15 other candidates. The veteran party leader and former Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal, who was also considered a strong contender for the nomination, will step aside for Tewari in this strategic electoral move.

Manish Tewari, who previously represented the Anandpur Sahib constituency in Punjab, is a prominent figure in Indian politics and has a commendable track record. His political journey began with his initial win from the Ludhiana constituency, where he served from 2009 to 2014.
